The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza are starting the process to enforce a historic demolition order on a once popular family hotel in Playa Blanca after it was found in violation of excessive construction.
The Son Bou Hotel, part of the same group as the Princess Yaiza, is under real threat of demolition as the Yaiza Council seek to enforce an historic order following inaction from the owners regarding violation of planning laws and exceeding construction limits regarding the amount of land the building occupies.
Whilst work did start in an attempt to satisfy the order back in 2005 a recent inspection has found that only a small part of the instruction had been carried out. The hotels license was revoked but the building still contravenes urban planning laws.
The hotel is one of many in the Lanzarote resort that were constructed without the proper permissions, including the Princess Yaiza which violated height regulations. Lanzarote, particularly the municipality of Yaiza, has the unfortunate accolade of having the longest stretch of coastline in all of Spain with the highest number of illegal hotel constructions.
