Haria and the Valley of 1000 Palms
The beautiful Canarian village of Haria is set in a valley populated with what seems like endless plantation of palm trees. This wonderful display is a result of the village's practice to plant one palm tree every time a girl is born and two for a boy. With the cliffs and mountains surrounding the village, the steady slope down into the valley is a stunning view and a must see location in Lanzarote.
Jameos del Agua
Jameos del Agua is one of many Cèsar Manrique inspired attractions on the island of Lanzarote. This particular attraction is based around a subterranean salt water lake that has settled in a lava tunnel that was created by the the nearby Volcan de la Corona. The lake is inhabited by thousands of blind albino crabs that are native to the island of Lanzarote. The attraction has a coffee shop where you can sit and gaze out through the tunnel and over the lake and a whitewashed Garden in typical Manrique style, with a stunning turquoise water pool. Moving on from the garden you'll be able to step into a concert arena that is housed in the volcanic tunnel, which makes for great acoustics during performances. ENTRANCE FEE NOT INCLUDED
Monumento al Campesino
As the tour goes on, you'll notice how important Manrique was to the development of the island, as you move on to another creation of the late artist and architect. The Monumento al Campesino or Fertility Monument was created by Manrique to pay tribute to farmers on the island.
La Geria. The wine district of Lanzarote
You may, or many not, know that Lanzarote produces some of the very best wines in Europe. If you're wondering how this happens in such a dry climate then you're in luck as the next stop on this Lanzarote Grand Tour Cruise Excursion takes you to the wine district of La Geria. Here you will learn about the process of growing grapes on the island, how they are harvested and then eventually turned into wine. There is a wine tasting session and you'll even be able to buy or bottle or two take back to your cruise ship.
The Timanfaya National Park and Fire Mountains
The absolute jewel in the crown of Lanzarote, and something everyone should see when visiting the island is the Timanfaya National Park. The park, situated on the west coast of the island, is a natural wonder in itself. The lunar like landscape was created by complete devastation of the area by six years of volcanic eruptions between 1730 to 1736 and a smaller one in 1824. To this very day you can experience the extreme heat of the Fire Mountains through Geyser and Fire demonstrations which are a stark reminder of the turbulent and violent nature of the islands history. ENTRANCE FEE NOT INCLUDED
El Golfo
Moving on up the west coast to El Golfo, you'll come across another natural beauty of Lanzarote that is El Lago Verde. This green lake is located in the bottom of a half a volcano sits at the back of what is now a beach. The mesmerising emerald tint of the water is a result of the minerals of the volcanic rock and it looks simply stunning set against the blue sky and orange and red combinations of the volcano it sits in. This is a great spot to take a photo or video to remind you of your time on the island.
Salinas de Janubio
Ever wondered how salt was captured from the sea? Well nows your chance to find out. The final stop of the Lanzarote Cruise Shoreline Excursion Grand Tour is to Salinas de Janubio. Is here where you'll find salt flats either piled high with salt, or full of sea water ready for the sun to work its magic and evaporate the water leaving just the salt behind.
