Lanzarote Tour of the South

Book your places on the Lanzarote Volcano South Tour to experience the absolute best of what this unique island has to offer. See stunning beaches and coastlines, volcanoes, lunar-like landscapes, enjoy wine tasting, and more, all in this one day excursion

The Lanzarote Volcano South Tour

The Lanzarote Volcano South Tour mixes up the natural wonders of the island with purpose-built man-made attractions that will, for sure, create lasting impressions of your Lanzarote holiday. Visit the best of what the South of Lanzarote has to offer, from popular tourist spots to visitor attractions, all in a single day.

This Lanzarote Excursion takes you to the most popular tourist spots that the South of the island has to offer.

The Timanfaya National Park

We've said it before and we'll say it again. This is THE place to visit when you come to Lanzarote. It's not every day you can visit a landscape scarred with volcanic debris and littered with volcanoes. Even more so, Fire Mountain is an active volcano with temperatures reaching up to 600 degrees Celsius just meters below the surface. This now-famous, Lanzarote attraction is steeped in history and will leave you feeling like you've left planet earth as you explore the lunar-like landscape.

Witness breathtaking rock formations as your tour guide talk you through the Timanfaya National Park. Learn about the island's history and geological formations, and don't forget to take plenty of photos and videos to remind you of this amazing experience.

The Village of El Golfo and the Emerald Green Lake

Next stop on the Lanzarote Volcano South Tour is the coastal village of El Golfo and the emerald lake. The lake is a huge attraction for tourists and was created as a direct result of a volcanic eruption. This now 'half crater' has filled with seawater and the volcanic minerals have given it a beautiful emerald-green appearance. The El Golfo stop-off is a great place for photos and videos for your social media, or if you prefer, to take a short walk through the pretty village of El Golfo itself.

Lanzarote Camel Ride

If you want to ride a camel in Lanzarote, then you're in luck. Camel Rides in Lanzarote are amongst the most popular things to do and you have the chance to do it right here on the Lanzarote Volcano South Tour. The tour will stop off at the Camels where you can take an optional ride through the Timanfaya park for just €11 per person. Each Camel can carry two people. The Camel Rides are completely optional and not included in the price of the tour. For anyone not wanting to participate in the Camel Rides, you can take the time to relax and look around the visitor center.

Los Hervideros and the Salt Plains

After the Camel Rides the tour will head South to Los Hervideros. Here you will find a dramatic rock formation that was formed as the molten lava reached the sea before cooling. With the right sea conditions, Los Hervideros can be a spectacle to behold as the huge rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash against the Lanzarote coastline. As the cliffs are littered with small caves, as the waves rise and fall you'll see an effect that resembles boiling water. It's no coincidence that the translation for Los Hervideros is in fact, 'Boiling pots'.

After a walk around the cliffside of Los Hervideros the tour then makes the short trip down the road to the Salinas de Janubio salt flats. Here you will discover how salt is captured from seawater as it's trapped in small lagoons and evaporated in the Lanzarote heat, leaving only the salt behind. It's quite fascinating.

Lunch break

A full tour of the south of the island needs a lunch break, so next on the itinerary is a break in one of the nearby villages. Here you'll be able to enjoy a local buffet lunch in one of the restaurants for a small additional fee of €13 per person.

La Geria and the Lanzarote Wine District

After lunch, the Lanzarote Volcano South Tour continues to the famous wine regions in Lanzarote - La Geria. During this last stop on the excursion, you'll learn how local farmers utilise the volcanic landscape to cultivate grapes that are used in the fine Lanzarote wines. Of course, you'll be able to sample a drop or two, and don't forget to purchase a bottle as a souvenir of your day out on the Lanzarote Volcano South Tour!

In Summary...

The Lanzarote Volcano south tour is a great day out for all the family. Mixing both natural wonders and man-made attractions it's the perfect combination of entertainment, education, fun and relaxation and will create memories of your holiday that you will treasure forever. This is a very popular excursion so if you want to experience the best parts of the south of the island, then reserve your places today
